The Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program provides resources to Alameda County residents in low-moderate income residents in small cities and unincorporated county. Since 1974, the CDBG program managed by HCD has provided more than $100 million to support many programs, including:
- Making housing more affordable
- Home rehabilitation
- Programs to help understand and resolve issues between renters and landlords
- Building and improving sidewalks
- Creating and fixing up parks and places for the community and seniors to gather
- Services for the community such as Meals on Wheels for Seniors, behavioral health program, and homeless services.
